Mechanism of Action
UPP-3325 is a synthetic analogue of unacylated ghrelin (UAG), the predominant circulating form of ghrelin. Unlike acylated ghrelin, UAG does not activate GHS-R1a but exerts distinct metabolic and cytoprotective effects through alternative receptors. Research investigates its role in insulin sensitisation, pancreatic beta-cell protection, and counter-regulation of acylated ghrelin's orexigenic effects.
