Mechanism of Action
Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) activates telomerase (hTERT), the reverse transcriptase enzyme that adds TTAGGG telomeric repeats to chromosome ends, counteracting the progressive telomere shortening that drives replicative senescence. It also upregulates the expression of the telomerase RNA component (hTERC), providing both the catalytic and template components needed for telomere elongation. Beyond telomere biology, Epitalon acts as a potent antioxidant by increasing superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase activity, reducing oxidative damage to DNA, proteins, and lipids.
